Yesterday my 5-year-old daughter Karen earned her certificate for swimming 25 meters (=27.34 yards).

For some reason it seems that I was more enthusiastic than she was. She was very stoic and cool as if this was nothing special. Just a walk in the park.

This is the very same pool where I used to participate in swimming competitions about 20 years ago (I was about 12 back then). That makes it even more special to me.

There is nothing like seeing this tiny blond girl making her way through the water. She only started her swimming lessons in July after we came back from Lanzarote. In fact we started out with 5 swimming lessons and she only took 3 so far. I don’t think I’ve ever been this proud in my life.

I know you can’t read yet. And by the time you’ll learn English, this blog might not even exist anymore but way to go girl! Daddy loves you.

So watch out Britta Steffen because a new star is on the rise!
