Ever since I wrote about a way to export data from Notes to rtf, people have asked me to also show them the other way around: import the content of a Word document into Lotus Notes.

I do a lot of imports and exports to and from Excel but Word? I can’t say I do that very often.

So I had a quick look around on the Mighty Internet and I found 2 ways to get that data into your precious Notes Client.

  1. OLE Automation
  2. Simply use the import method

That’s why I’ve created 2 agents that will demonstrate both ways of working.

After some testing I found out that the second way of importing is the fastest way but also the least stable. Only when we made rtf documents there was no problem.

All you need to do is create a from called ‘Import’ that contains a richtext field that is called ‘Body’. Then import the 2 agents in your database and test them both.

You can download both agents here.
